The Chow Chow dog comes from China and the age of this breed dates as back as the ancient China. Some specialists say that they originate from the Arctic and that they had migrated to Mongolia. The appearance of the Chow Chow is a combination between a bear and a lion. They are known in history for their hunting skills, for protecting their owners and for herding.

If you are looking for a dog who has its own way of thinking, who is not messy in the house and who does not need mush exercise than the Chow Chow dog is for you. If you do not train it properly it can become dominant, suspicious and develop a behavior where it does what it wants regardless of what you tell it. If you train it properly that means that you have had a lot of patience and time to spend with it and that you will a enjoy it you along with you family.

It is very important that you start the training as early as possible because they are very aggressive dogs. They should be trained when they are puppies even though they do not show signs of aggressiveness at this stage.

You have to earn the dogs respect if you want it to listen to you. The Chow Chow will not obey it it does not have a respect toward you. You must be harsh at first and correct every sign of aggression because this is the only way you will be able to prevent it from becoming more aggressive.

A good solution for correcting you Chow is to purchase an electric collar. Because of the dogs thick skin and independent attitude they will work together and counteract the effect of your action. This collar was designed to make you dog pay attention when you want to correct it.

You must train them surrounded by other dogs because this is the only way it will obey when you are surrounded by other dogs and when you are at home.

Make sure you buy it a kennel because it will use it when it wants to relax or sit in a quiet place. The kennel will give it the feeling of a safe place where it can escape from use humans.

To make sure your dog gets the proper training it needs do not do it yourself instead pay a professional to do the training for you. You will be assured that it will not attack humans or dogs.

The beagle is a hunting dog which is why it should be kept in a secure yard or on a leash at all times just to make sure it does not go running around after a real or imagined pray. They are normal dogs which need normal grooming.

Here are some guide lines on how to take care of your Beagle:

1. Take your dog to the veterinarians as soon as you purchase it and give it all its shots. After you have done that ask your vet about the future vaccines you will have to do to your dog also what are the appropriate products for fleas and heart worm. Also ask him about worming your dog.

2. The food you give it has to be of high quality. Whatever you do don’t feed it food scraps from your table. When you are training your dog make sure you portion your treats in smaller pieces that they usually are because the Beagle love to eat and is a remarkable beggar.

3. This breed is a moderate shredder which means that you have to brush the fur several times a week. Buy a special glove which is destined to make your dog’s fur look shinny.

4. Every time you brush you dog make sure that at the end you clean the dog’s ears in order to prevent infections

5. The beagle does not need frequent bathing and you can even wash it in the comfort of your home

6. Make sure it gets its daily exercise, so if you live in an apartment pick a person which is willing to spend from 30 to 90 minutes per day playing with your beagle.

7. If you want to start training your beagle you should know that you have to be patient and positive because they can be stubborn.

8. Another thing that you should take into account is its weight. Whatever you do don’t let is gain extra weight because if you do it will develop heart problems such as arthritis and heart problems.

9. Search and learn everything there is to know about the dog’s health problems: epilepsy, cherry eye, back problems, cataracts, hypothyroidism, retinal dysplasia, cancer, kidney failure and dry eye.

10. They can leave up to 15 years.

The Pomeranian is a small and fluffy dog which looks like a fox. Even though they are tiny they are very loving creatures and usually impress people with their extraordinary personality. They do not confront, during their lives, with sever health problems which is why they live a very long period of time. However they do have some health issues which should be known by the owner in order to prevent the as much as possible.

The first thing you should do when you purchase a female Pomeranian is get it neutered because you want to make sure that you will properly care for it all the time and not have to worry about other Pomeranians. If you do this before the female’s first heat you will prevent it from serious health problems such as ovarian cancer, uterine infections or even cancer and breast cancer. As far as males are concerned, if you neuter them you will also help them because you will reduce the possibilities of prostate problems, curb aggression and testicular cancer.

Make sure your dog has all its shots up to date and that you take it to regular checkups at the veterinarian. Protect your dog from fleas by buying the appropriate products. You can also examine your pet monthly in the comfort of your home by checking the ears, nose, teeth, gums and skin.

Brush you dog’s teeth every day because like all toy dogs they are prone to decays. To make sure you are doing it the right way ask your veterinarian what are the best toothbrush and toothpaste as well as how often should they be brushed. There are also available biscuits for tart control which are very good for your dog’s teeth.

The proper food is very important for the Pomeranian, the main ingredient should be meat followed by a balance of fats, fibers, vitamins minerals, carbs and proteins. Dry food is the preferred option because is better for the teeth but you can mix it with can food. You can even make it a homemade diet but whatever you do don’t feet it table scraps.

When it comes to grooming you should know that this breed needs monthly baths and nail trimming, regular cleaning of the ears with a cotton ball and brush the coat gently. Make sure you keep it inside when it is very hot outside.

The Somali Cat was introduced to the world in the 60s and is a fabricated breed having its origins in the Abyssinian cat with long hair. It is known that the Abyssinian cat has only short hair but in the 1900 it was mixed with a Persian cat and thus appeared the Abyssinian with long hair.

These cats are seldom accepted as being a breed on their own but they are known for their special appearance which resembles a fox and their humor. Starting with the 1991 the Somali cat was recognized as being a breed on its own. The change in perception happened when the breeders started to not accept the Somali cat as being the same as the Abyssinian cat.

They look like foxes. They come only in two colors: red and ruddy brown and they have a soft double coat. The ruby colored type has the tips of the hairs black. The body of the Somali cat is slim, slender and slightly longer than the Abyssinian cat. The legs are muscular but lender to go along with the arched back.

The Somali cat as a round head equipped with two ears which are set apart and always look alert. The eyes are very special, they come in gold or green color and they are surrounded by a black line as if they were penciled. The eyes are deep and very expressive.

The tail of the Somali cat is thick and long. The length of the coats hairs are not longer than 3 inches. They need daily brushing because of their long hair. They are full of life and always in need of their owner’s attention so make sure you satisfy that need.

As far as the color of the coat is concerned it comes only in four colors: Brown, red, blue gray and fawn. They can have spots coming in different colors. They can also have tabby stripes but they are not desired.

Because they are not pure breeds they are exposed to a few genetic diseases such as renal amyloidosis and Autoimmune hemolytic anemia. In order to prevent as much as possible this diseases make sure that you buy your Somali cat from a breeder. Buying it from a breeder means that they are healthy, vaccined and pure bred.

They make ideal pets because they are affectionate towards their owners and they like being around children.

Although the roots of this breed are found in Ethiopia today, the cat’s origin is English. It is the result of the interbreeding between an Abyssinian male Zula, originated in Ethiopia and the European dark-gray cat. This breed was officially recognized in 1926, after then it has continuously improved to the form found today.

The Abyssinian cat is characterized by a slightly triangular head, relatively long and delicate. The nose has a harmonious development, dark colored and provided with a thin black border. The eyes of the Abyssinian cats are large, expressive, well-opened, almond shaped and surrounded by a black border. The eye color is green, amber or hazel; some enthusiast breeders of these cats say that undoubtedly, the eye color changes after the mood of the cat and her health. Moreover, the ears present a medium development, apart at the base and raised in a typical position, like to sense a possible noise. The tip of their ears is slightly rounded and sometimes there is a tuft of small hairs at their tip, like those present at lynx.
The neck is well developed, proportionally and harmonious, with elegant movements, as well as the entire body. The trunk is medium sized, long and thin, slim and well proportioned, anchored on long and fine limbs, but firm. The tail is long and round-shaped and thins toward the free end. In addition, the tail as well as the entire body is covered with dense hair that dresses very tight this region.

The typical Abyssinian cat is known as ‘rabbit’, given her color and especially the hair pigmentation in the form of 2-3 lanes. The hairs such colored are distributed over the whole body without forming spots or drawings, but the lower regions are lighter making the coat to be of a brown to reddish-dark as the rabbit, hence the name. After the main color of the coat there are several varieties of Abyssinian cats of which eight are already recognized. Besides, the appearance of the Abyssinian cat, whether at rest or moving, is very seductive. Lively cat, very nimble and with a remarkable intelligence prove at the same time great caution towards an object or an unknown person.

It is a good companion, gentle and affectionate, very attached to its master to whom it gives in full, provided a reciprocal, otherwise becomes sad and sometimes leaves the inhospitable home. Avoid long periods of time when the cat is left alone since it is not accepting loneliness, but also it is not happy when there are more cats in the house.

This cat needs room to move, and if it grows in an apartment you should offer it the possibility to move freely from one room to another. Because it likes to contemplate everything from height, not to wonder if you will see it on the closet, and if it benefits of a garden then it will be very happy to be able to climb the trees and jump with great dexterity and flexibility from one branch to another.

The adult Abyssinian cat weighs about 2.5 to 4 kg, the American variety is more supple – 2.5 to 3 kg, and the European one more robust – 3 to 4 kg. The average life expectancy of the Abyssinian is 12-15 years.

Bengal cats are not very needy but they do require some special things. As a whole your cat needs love, attention and grooming. We are going to present to you some of the Bengals need as far as grooming and feeding is concerned:

• Take your cat to the vet on a regular basis just to make sure that it has all its shots done and that it is healthy
• If you have a cat which is smaller than six month then you should consult your vet about feeding instructions
• When the Bengal is under six month you should feed it up to four times a day and gradually reduce the meals, after it has reached eight months, till you reach two meal per day
• Make sure that your cat does not lack fresh water and dry food during the day
• You should change the food when the cat reaches one year. Just to make the transition easier at first mix dry food with wet food and gradually reduce the wet food.
• Make sure that the food you give to your Bengal is quality food and not the type of food you see on TV. Whatever you do don’t feed it food from other animals
• Avoid giving your cat milk because it causes diarrhea.
• Have your cat neutered as soon as possible. If you have a female Bengal then you should have it neutered before its first heat. If you have a male cat then you should do it before it turns 8 months.
• Keep the litter box clean at all times, scoop the poop with the help of a poop scooper and change the sand often
• To make sure that you will not lose your cat put on it an identification tag with your address and number so that people can reach you in case something happiness to it.
• The Bengal does not need to stay outdoors it can sit just fine in the house if it has enough toys, shelves and a scratching post
• The Bengal cat can be trained to walk on a leash but you have to watch out for dogs
• The proper way to hold your cats is to put your hand under its chest and hold its back legs.
• Keep plastic bags away because they can harm themselves with them such as suffocation

According to some authors this breed is based on the old cat Arkhangelsk that was mated with the Siamese blue and after a rigorous selection they managed to obtain a genetically consolidated population, which was standardized in 1965. Following other authors, the Russian Blue cat is the result of the acclimatization of the blue cat from the Mediterranean shores, taken by Russian soldiers in northern Russia, where she was multiplied until after World War II, when British and Scandinavian breeders have created the current form of this breed by multiple interbreeding and a very rigorous selection.

Medium-sized breed with short hair is characterized by a rectangular shaped head, long and relatively flat, with broad forehead and the frontonasal line right, forming an obvious angle. The well apart ears are wide at the base and slightly pointed towards the free end. Besides, the ears are transparent, thin and covered with fine and dense hairs. Moreover, the eyes are large, opened, expressive, almond shaped, with color ranging from glassy green to emerald green. The neck is moderately developed and well connected with the head and trunk.

The long trunk, well developed, smooth, covered by a compact muscles is supported by long and strong limbs which end with hard and sharp claws. The tail is long, straight, smooth and tapering towards the tip. Furthermore, the body is covered with a short, dense and fine hair, slightly raised from the trunk, characteristic of this breed. The color of the coat is blue-gray with silvery reflections, particularly visible in the cat’s movement.

The Russian Blue cat is one of the best cats for growth in small spaces because it has special qualities: it is a quiet pet, calm, clean and very affectionate, living in total agreement with the owner. Very intelligent cat, it guesses from the owner’s eyes if it may or may not take a particular action. Very playful in its youth with the age it becomes quiet dealing more with the daily toilet. It is a good companion not only for family members, but also for other animals with who it accepts to share time and interests.

The Russian Blue especially appreciates human companionship, but avoids too noisy children or those who have a brutal behavior.

Highly resistant to low temperatures, however the cat prefers to sit near a heat source. Less demanding on food she responds well to a varied diet, which is evident on the exterior of the animal. However, it is ideal after the age of 6-8 years, even if you have a healthy Russian Blue cat, to do a routine check and several investigations to detect early any sensitivities and to try to remedy them through a proper diet or with appropriate treatment. The average life expectancy of the Russian Blue is 13-15 years.

Although hairless cats were known since the time of the Aztecs, the appearance of the Sphynx cats is the result of genetic mutations that were seized in 1966 in Canada. This cat doesn’t resemble with the Mexican nude cat. They have as breed founder a hairless male of the domestic cat, black and white with short hair. Genetically speaking this character is due to the presence of a recessive gene and without human help to cultivate the gene it disappears as quickly as it appeared.

The Sphynx breed is characterized by a thin body, tall with fine limbs which end in small but firm claws. The head is rectangular shaped, emphasized by the development of the large ears and slightly rounded at the tip. The nose region is short and well highlighted. The eyes are oblique, slightly sunken, colored in green, gold, hazel or even other colors. Moreover, the cat’s trunk is relatively oval in section supported on long limbs, which make the cat tall and slim. The muscles are less developed and can be easily seen under the skin free of hair growth. The neck is thin, but proportioned and properly connected to the two neighboring parts. The hair is missing on the body, but can appear very short on the face, ears, tail and on the median line of the dorsum. The skin is soft, easily removable and in some areas has slight creases. In addition, this breed meets many varieties of color, of which we mention: black, white, black and white, blue and white or stained

The Sphynx cat is appreciated especially by people allergic to cat hair, but who love the species. This cat is a gentle pet, sociable and attached to its master. It never reacts violently even if it’s not happy by the presence of foreigners who it examines from the distance with great reserve. Due to the absence of hair the Sphynx is sensitive to low temperatures and large temperature variations. Although it prefers moving, this breed can be raised only in moderate temperature conditions, thus indoors or in areas with high temperatures.

Furthermore, despite its appearance the Sphynx is a robust and resistant cat, affectionate and playful, a real pet. Devoted and loyal, the cat will follow its master everywhere, shaking its tail like a dog and purring constantly. It will welcome its master when he comes home and it is very talkative. The Sphynx needs your unconditional attention and is as naughty and cute as children.

They say that Sphynx cats are champions at purring. They like to be spoiled and they like playing around. Extremely sociable, these cats tolerate other pets around them. The cat finds especially attention from its master and likes to sleep in his arms or in his bed. The average life expectancy of this breed is 9-15 years.

This cat appeared in England in the county of Devon, when a tousle-haired kitten abandoned in a deserted mine was found in 1960 by Beryl Cox and then used in breeding, thus founding the Devon Rex breed. Being a relatively new breed, Devon Rex is carefully cross-breed with exemplars of American and British Shorthair breed to strengthen the existing gene ground.

The Devon Rex breed is characterized by a triangular head with short muzzle and prominent cheekbones, a firm chin and rounded cheeks. The ears are large with slightly rounded tips and covered by a fine hair. The whiskers and eyebrows are frieze. The eyes are well apart from one another with a relatively oval shape, well-opened, bright and colored in tone with the coat. Moreover, the body is well developed, medium-sized, supported by long and fine limbs, the posterior ones being slightly longer than the anterior ones. The cat has a long and thin neck, but well harmonized with the neighboring parts.

This breed has a dense and fine hair, soft when is palpated and wavy, which is wonderful aesthetically. The colors are many and there are no restrictions in this regard. Because of many interbreeding, more or less controlled, it is impossible to enumerate or define all varieties precisely. In the vast majority, the varieties obtained so far are not recognized by international associations.

The Devon Rex cat is distinguished by calm, intelligence, sobriety and elegance. It cannot stand being taken in the arms too often, but it loves to sit near its master. The cat is very curious and always interested in contact with people, most of these cats inviting itself in any activity where people are involved. Docile pet, it is obedient and understanding also and it easily becomes accustomed with the learning of some basic elements. It moves all the time in the same pace and it likes to know all over the house or the area where it is raised. This cat accepts with pleasure warm places, protected from currents and is not too happy with fluctuations of temperature and noise.

Devon Rex eats everything and has a weakness for foods that are not normally intended for it. Having a wavy coat, this one needs minimal care consisting of a light rubbing with a piece of suede for brightness and increasing the curls. A balanced diet will provide your cat the necessary fat that its coat needs to be maintained in optimal condition. The average life expectancy of the Devon Rex breed is 9-15 years.
